Plastics Industry RTDs
RTDs for Plastic Molding and Extrusion
These are general purpose RTDs whose primary usage is on the barrels, nozzles and molds of plastic injection and plastic extrusion machinery. They are available in a wide variety of lengths, configurations and calibrations to meet virtually any need in the plastics manufacturing industries.
Armor Style Varidepth® RTD
Adjusts to various depths by adjusting the cap up or down along the armor, eliminating the need to stock several fixed immersion depth sensors.
Spring Style Varidepth® RTD
Adjusts to various depths by adjusting the cap up or down along a 6" or 12" spring, eliminating the need to stock several fixed immersion depth sensors.
Fixed Immersion RTD
Immersion depth is fixed for your application with a spring loaded bayonet cap for quick insertion and detachment. Custom lengths available to meet your specifications.
Fixed or Adjustable RTD
Immersion depth fixed to your specifications or adjustable with a compression fitting during installation. Rigid tube with or without lead wire.
Ring Type RTD
Measures the surface temperature such as a barrel or mold. These are placed over a threaded stud and secured with a nut.
Non-Immersion RTD
The non-immersion nozzle melt single element RTD is available with 1/4-28 thread, stainless steel, rotatable fitting. The probe is 1/8" OD, closed end, grounded.
Melt Bolt RTD
Melt Bolt RTDs are used on extruders and injection molding machines. The immersion tip provides direct melt temperature measurement. Available in rigid length mineral insulated or flexible armor with lead wire. -148°F to 932°F.

Description
The Varidepth RTD adjusts to many depths along the armor, eliminating the need to stock a variety of fixed immersion sensors. Compression of the flexible tube provides locking force that keeps the probe tip tight against the well bottom.

Spring Style Varidepth® RTD
Description

Fixed Immersion RTD
Description
Bayonet RTDs have a compressible spring and locking cap for quick insertion and detachment. All are light weight for easy connection to an instrument or a distant junction box.

Rigid or Flexible (Fixed or Adjustable Depth) RTD
Description
Bushing mounted RTDs are available with rigid tube or flexible armor. the process mounting bushing can be brazed on the tube in position ("U" dimension) specified on your order; or you can order an adjustable bushing held by a compression fitting. The adjustable bushing allows you to set the immersion depth when you install the probe.

Ring Style RTD
Description
The Ring RTD measure surface temperature on a barrel or mold. The ring is placed over a threaded stud and secured with a nut.

- Fiberglass insulated flexible lead with SS overbraid or Stainless Steel armor clad tubing for protection
Non-Immersion RTD
Description
Single platinum 100 ohms, RTD element. The tolerances shown below apply to all three lead probes, and two lead probes whose total length does not exceed 48". Tolerances for the two lead probes longer than 48" are increased .03 ohm for each 12" over 48" length:
Temperature range: -148° to 932°F (-100 to 500°C), reduced to 350°F (176°C) for plug connector.
Insulation resistance: 100 megaohms minimum at 100 Vdc.

Melt Bolt RTD
Description
Melt bolt RTDs are specifically designed for melt stream on extruders and injection molding machines. The immersed tip provides direct melt temperature measurement.
Temperature range: -148° to 932°F (-100 to 500°C), reduced to 350°F (176°C) for plug connector.
Insulation resistance: 100 megaohms minimum at 100 Vdc.
